Clarenville, June 30, 2007 – Philippe de Montigny of Ecole J. H. Picard School in Alberta received the 2006 Oikos Global Award - Lourdes Gregorio Rayel Outstanding Youth Award last June 2007. This annual award is given to individuals or youth organizations that made a difference in the life of their peers.
Philippe created two noteworthy projects on bullying prevention. First, “The Ten Commandments of Bullying”; and Second, “Open your Eyes . . . Keep Asking it Needs to Stop” video. For the past few years, such projects have made his entire school aware of the dangers of bullying. Also, his latest video project has offered solution to the problem.
“Philippe has made and is making a difference in the life of all the teachers and students in our school. His projects have a long-term focus and have had and still have a positive and significant impact on our school population. . . ,” Ms. De Moissac (School Counselor, JH Picard) asserts.
Along with his bullying work, Philippe has impressive academic credentials and has been a columnist of a local paper. His teachers and fellow students are so proud of him. He received a certificate and financial reward worth US$500.00 for his socially responsible work.
“His outstanding efforts to educate his peers on bullying and his academic accomplishments have installed him as the sure winner. We’re proud to give Philippe this honor,” says Dr. Rayel, OGAC Chair.
The Oikos Global Award - Lourdes Gregorio Rayel Outstanding Youth Award is intended to recognize and honor young individuals or youth organizations that have made a difference in the lives of their peers.
